A special edition of Jaguar’s XKR will be premiering at next month’s Geneva Motor Show. This new edition combines two new option packs that will be featuring in the XK range in the 2011 model year. The Special Edition has an increased top speed of 280km/h, becoming the fastest XK ever.
The new XKR is equipped with the same 5.0-litre supercharged AJ-V8 Gen III R engine that delivers 510PS (510bhp SAE), 625Nm of torque, that featured in last years model range, but thanks to the Speed Pack top speed climbs from an electronically limited 155mph (250km/h) to 174mph (280km/h). The Special Edition also features a six-speed automatic transmission with steering-wheel mounted paddles, lightweight aluminium body structure and a range of computer-controlled systems including Active Differential Control and Adaptive Dynamics.
Although it had a significant increase in power and performance, according to Jaguar the XKR Special Edition has a fuel economy that can be compared to the previous generation of XKR. The brand justifies it with the combination of the powertrain efficiency and the XKR lightweight architecture.
The Special Edition of the XKR is a combined result of two new option packs for the 2011 XK: the Speed and Black Pack. These two have been joined in one single model to be presented at the Geneva Motor Show. The optional packs will also be available separately.
