Japanese and Korean Automakers Sign Agreement for Fuel Cell Vehicles in Nordic Countries

have signed a memorandum of understanding in Copenhagen to introduce hydrogen fuel cell vehicles in the region between 2014 and 2017. All three manufactures have fuel cell vehicles in the pipeline or in the case of Honda in production. 

The memorandum of understanding says that the automakers will introduce fuel cell vehicles in Norway, Sweden, Iceland and Denmark. They will receive help in creating an infrastructure from private companies in each of the nations and Nordic NGOs. 

"In 2002 Honda became the world's first carmaker to put a fuel cell car on the road with regular customers, delivering the Honda FCX to fleet users in the United States and Japan. We want to continue to lead the way for fuel cell technology across the world including Europe. This MoU signifies that commitment," said Ken Keir, executive vice president of Honda Motor Europe.

Honda also announced that it is developing a new fuel cell vehicle that will go on sale in 2015. The new vehicle will offer technological improvements over the current FCX ClarityFCX ClarityHonda FCX ClarityJapan, 2010 > present3 photos
