Kia Says GT Concept Planned for Production in 2017

from the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show into production since the car was first shown, and it appears that he will finally get his wish. Kia says that it is close to giving the car at the production green light, and it would be on sale at the end of 2016 at the earliest.

According to Soon-Nam Lee, Kia’s head of overseas marketing, the GT will be aimed at Europe and North America in the hopes of raising the company’s brand awareness there.

“We have a plan to produce the GT. We understand this is something that the European markets strongly want, although mainly we are targeting the US,” said Lee.

The concept previewed the look of the current K9K9Kia K9Republic of Korea, 2012 > present4 photos
, and it used a 390hp 3.3-litre turbocharged V6. Lee said that no decision has been made on what powertrain the production version will use.

Kia wants to be come an affordable, high style brand that puts looks ahead of overall performance. It has no desire to create high performance cars. That may be left to its sibling HyundaiHyundaiHyundaiRepublic of Korea, 1967 > present79 models
