McLaren Putting Pressure on Perez to Improve

is putting pressure on Sergio Perez to perform better. The Mexican driver has struggled this season with only one finish in the points, compared to two from his teammate Jenson Button. Perez has also only made it into Q3 once this season, while Button has gone to Q3 in every race. 

"There is a lot of pressure when you are in such a powerful strong team like that."

"It is not easy when the team relies on you - just as it would here - to get the two drivers to pull those results out. If you don't, you feel it – and he looks like an individual who feels it," said former McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton about the pressure in the team. 

Perez showed flashes of brilliance last season with two second-place finishes and one third-place finish. However, he retired from five places and finished outside of the points more often than he was in the points. 

"He has a lot to learn, and McLaren will give him all the opportunity to do that. There is huge pressure at McLaren, there always is," said Hamilton.

has not been in top contention this season. McLaren had hoped that an upgrade package for the Chinese Grand Prix would fix the problem, but it did not do quite enough. Still, it gave Button his best finish of the season so far. The team's next hope is an upgrade package that will come at the Spanish Grand Prix in Catalunya.
