After 14 days and over 8,000km of roads, driver Stephane Peterhansel has become the driver with the most wins in Dakar history. Counting all categories this was Peterhansel's 11th win in the event and his fifth win in a car. Mini performed very well in general in the Dakar this year. Its cars came in 1,3,4,12 and 48 positions. Splitting Mini at the podium was Toyota HiluxToyota Hilux 7Japan, 2005 > 201557 versions

On the bikes, KTM rider Cyril Despres took his fifth win in 12 starts at Dakar. One more win, and he will tie Peterhansel for motorcycle victories.

-sponsored Race2Recover Rally team made up mostly of injured soldiers performed well too simply by finishing the event. Only one of the team's trucks finished the rally; it was driven by Matt O'Hare and Philip Gillespie and finished in 91st place. In this year's event 299 of the 449 entered vehicles finished the event.
O'Hare is one of the founding members of Race2Recovery, but one of the team's few uninjured members. His co-driver Gillespie stepped on an IED in Afghanistan and lost his right leg below the knee and other injuries.
