While the Qashqai is not going anywhere, Nissan wants to offer the Invitation to family buyers who do not want a truck-like vehicle. The Invitation will share a platform with the Qashqai to keep costs down. It will only be offered as a five-door. 

The engines for the Invitation will likely include Renault diesels, and Nissan's upcoming three-cylinder, 1.2-liter supercharged engine DIG-S engine.
