Nissan has revealed the first image of its convertible Murano, set to be presented at this year’s LA Auto Show, on November 17th. The Murano will become the first ever SUV to receive a convertible version and should reach the market in 2011.
Called Nissan Murano CrossCabriolet, the Japanese brand is decribing it as “the world’s first four-wheel-drive crossover convertible”.
For this drop-top version the Murano has been converted from a four-door to a two-door SUV, which gives the Murano a sportier look.
By using a traditional fabric roof, which is stored behind the rear headrests, Nissan was able to keep the model’s weight down to a minimum and still preserve the Murano’s short rear overhang.
With little detail presented until this moment, Nissan describes the interior of the Murano CrossCabriolet as “premium-level”, so it is expected to feature leather upholstery, electric seats, sat-nav and climate control as standard. The newcomer has room for four adults plus luggage, even with the top down.
Further information will be presented at Nissan’s press conference at the LA Auto Show, scheduled for Wednesday 17th.
