Opel is preparing to unveil at the Geneva Motor Show in March, the
Mokka X, a version of the SUV with new exterior lines, a completely renovated interior and a new generation infotainment system. Along with the new generation of turbodiesel 1.6 CDTI engines, the Mokka X will extend the range of petrol engines by integrating the latest 1.4 Turbo engine from Opel, with direct injection, which will be associated with an automatic transmission with Start/Stop and a all-wheel drive system .
The Mokka X debuts a new name at Opel for a future range of SUV cars in which the 'X' wishes to emphasize a more adventurous nature compared to other more conventional models.
The lines and surfaces in the new Mokka X are softer compared to the other
Mokka versions and have less plastic applications. The profile lines give volume to the SUV's flanks, giving the vehicle an athletic look.
The interior has been completely redesigned and inspired by the
new Astra. It has a simple appearance but simultaneously more sophisticated. The center console has been designed around the large eight-inch touch screen that controls the latest generation of infotainment systems of Opel. It has a more minimalist design with less buttons, since most of the commands are now accessible on the touch screen.
With the arrival of the new Mokka X also comes the opportunity to extend the range of petrol engine options with the 1.4 Turbo with direct injection, which premiered with the Astra a few months ago. This engine will be available in the Mokka X in combination with an automatic six-speed gearbox with start/stop and adaptive all-wheel drive. Preliminary figures point to 152hp and average consumption of 6.6l/100 (emissions of 154g/km).
Another innovation of the Mokka X is the presence of headlight technology LED Adaptive Forward Lighting (AFL). The new system adapts the different patterns of light beams to the conditions on which the vehicle is being driven. Thus, it is guaranteed the best lighting without dazzling other road users. The Opel LED AFL has a total of nine functions/different light patterns for many different situations such as circulation in the city, national highway and freeway, besides curve and intersection lighting, reversing and signaling when stopped.
The Mokka X is also equipped with the new OpelEye front camera, which has higher resolution and increased ability of image processing, with results determining the accuracy of all functions it supports, including the variation in illumination of AFL headlamps. The Traffic Sign Recognition was improved and includes premium features, also thanks to the integration of the support to the navigation system. The Distance Indicator of the Vehicle in Front uses the camera to make a detailed reading of the traffic that flows in front of the Mokka X. Using the same data, Front Iminent Collision Alert now has warning LED lights that are shown in the windscreen in the driver's field of vision. The Lane Departure Warning system is activated at speeds above 60 km/h and consists of an audible warning and a light on the dashboard.
