Bringing back the herance of the legendary 1963 904 Carrera GTS, Porsche has unveiled at the LA Auto Show its sportiest Gran Turismo. The Panamera GTS is an 430 hp, all-wheel drive model with a sporty chassis, where GTS stands for Gran Turismo Sport.
Porsche has upgraded the Panamera in order to give it more racing car features. The changes include more power, upgraded brakes, a body lowered by ten millimetres and the especially sportily tuned chassis with air suspension and PASM.
In terms of design Porsche has given the Panamera GTS a distinctive look, seen in the front-end, side and rear area as well as in the black highlights. Inside the GTS has also been handed a more sporty look thanks to the sports seats, SportDesign steering wheel with shift paddles, exclusive GTS leather interior and Alcantara surfaces.
The Panamera GTS is powered by a modified 4.8-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine that delivers 430 hp (316 kW) at 6,700 rpm, 30hp more than the S and 4S versions of the Panamera. Maximum torque has also been raised by 20Nm to 520Nm. Combined with Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) transmission the Panamera GTS roars from 0 to 100km/h in less than 4.5 seconds, reaching a top speed of 288km/h. Fuel consumption is fixed at 10.9l/100km, a value that can be lowered to 10.7l/100 with low-friction tyres.
The Panamera GTS is being launched in February 2012 with a price tag of 116.716 €.
