can tow 30,000lbs or have a maximum load capacity of 37,600lbs, which includes the weight of the truck, payload and trailer. Ram Trucks says that the high rating is thanks to the truck's high-strength steel frame and 6.7-liter diesel engine that produces 385hp and 850lb-ft of torque.

“Towing capability, reliability and engine performance are ranked first through third, respectively, with HD customers. The 2013 Ram Heavy Duty trucks unequivocally deliver all those things, as well as a very low total cost of ownership," said Fred Diaz, President of Ram Trucks.

The less powerful Ram 2500 also gets an upgraded 18,350lbs tow rating and 25,000lbs max weight.

All of the new generation of Ram Heavy Duty pickups comes standard with stability control and a rear camera mounted in the Center High-Mounted Stop Light.

The diesel models get dual radiators, dual transmission coolers and an air cooler that Ram claims lower the engine and transmission's operating temperature and increases reliability.

All engines get a new active air intake system that sense when the engine may be getting too hot and opens a baffle to draw cooler air from the front of the engine. When it senses water, whether from rain, snow or driving through water, that baffle closes and one inside the engine bay opens to keep the engine from drawing in water.

Production of the trucks starts in 2013, and sales will begin in the first quarter of 2013.
