At this year’s Geneva Motor Show Land Rover will be showcasing the world premiere of its diesel hybrid plug-in prototype: the Range_e.
The Range_e is based on the all-wheel drive model Range Rover Sport and has been fitted with 3.0-litre TDV6 diesel combined with a plug-in parallel diesel hybrid system and an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission.
Thanks to the plug-in parallel diesel hybrid system the SUV can run solely on electric energy for more than 30 km. With a top top speed of 190 km/h, in hybrid mode, the Range_e has a combined range of 1100 km.
With 89g of CO2 emissions the Range_e will become the first capable 4WD model from Land Rover to break the 90g/km mark.
The technology featured on the 'Range_e' is one of many working prototypes which are currently being developed at Land Rover's design and engineering centre in the UK.
