Renault Says that R31 was a Bold Failure

Renault did not have a great season in Formula 1 this year. The team's technical director James Allison says that this year's car, the R31, was a failed experiment. The car's forward exhaust showed promise in preseason testing but never did enough when it came time to race.

"I regard it as a bold, but ultimately failed experiment. We were the only team to adopt a forward exhaust layout, and we did so with high hopes, buoyed by very strong windtunnel numbers. We look forward to moving on in 2012 with all-new exhaust rules and a chance to wipe the slate clean," said Allison.

Well, to be honest, the whole team is a "Bold Failure", especially their management ;(

Technological bold moves cannot always pay off. But still, deserve a mention to have tried.
