Rumormill: Porsche Planning Plug-In Hybrid Panamera for 2014

Porsche might have a plug-in version of its hybrid Panamera ready for sale by 2014. The car would likely eventually come to the US, but it is not known if that would be at launch or later on.

The current Panamera S Hybrid uses a 3.0l V6 with a 47hp electric motor that produces a total of 330hp and 428lb-ft of torque. It has a combined fuel economy of 25mpg.

A plug-in hybrid version would probably have higher capacity batteries, but power could remain the same.

Porsche's parent Volkswagen is starting their development of plug-in hybrids as well. It is planning plug-in versions of the Audi A3, Audi Q7 and VW Passat. Volkswagen wants to focus on larger cars as plug-in hybrids first because their drivers tend to drive longer distances.
