Skoda Octavia vRS Breaks Landspeed Record at Bonneville

Skoda UK has built an Octavia vRS capable of 227mph breaking the world landspeed record for 2.0 liter, forced induction cars at the Bonnevile salt flats.

The 2 liter, supercharged Octavia was tuned to 600hp. During the Bonneville Speed Week from August 13-19, the Octavia set an official record speed of 227.080 mph. This smashed the previous record of 216 mph set in 1998.

Robert Hazelwood, Director for Skoda UK, said: “Our goal was to break 200 mph as a celebration of 10 years of vRS, and we have achieved that, and significantly more. The success is a tribute to everyone who has worked so tirelessly and with such passion to make Skoda a world beater.”
