BMW is already working on the successor of the Z4 sports coupé together with Toyota. The new model was caught testing in the snow and for the first time it is possible to see its rear bodywork. Although it is still under camouflage it is the clearest shot we had so far of the new back design.
Rear design
From the images revealed by
Autocar we are able to see the car's back featuring a tailgate with a lip spoiler. The lights are narrow and there is also a centered brake light. Underneath the bumper we can spot two exhaust tailpipes.
According to Autocar there is the possibility of the BMW Z5 getting a hybrid drivetrain and optional all-wheel drive system.
New BMW Z5 arriving in 2018
The unveiling of the new soft-top, two-door model is expected to take place at the end of this year or in the beginning of 2018. Market launch will definitely take place next year.
The model should be sharing some of its underpinnings with
Toyota's Supra successor. However the Japanese model will keep faithful to the Supra history and will be a hard top model inspired on the
2014 NAIAS FT-1 concept.
