After last year's updates to the sedan and touring variants of the
BMW 3 Series, time has finally come for the arrival of the facelifted 3 Series Gran Turismo. Set to hit the market in September the new model received slight changes in terms of design and a heavily updated range of engines with upgraded engines as well as some novelties.
Visually the differences in the new 3 Series Gran Turismo are in the design of the front air intakes, LED headlamps and the outside panel at the bottom of the rear bumpers. In terms of dimensions the model now has 4825mm long, 195mm more than the sedan and station wagon variants. The wheelbase is 2920mm.
The new Gran Turismo will be offered, like the other two variants of the 3 Series with three distinct trim levels: Sport Line, Luxury Line and M-Sport. worked in quality improvements on the interior, as a response to criticisms to the previous model. Thus the Gran Turismo received slight changes in dashboard buttons, Bluetooth connectivity for smartphone and even the latest version of its navigation system. A load capacity of the 3 Series Gran Turismo increased 25l compared to the previous model up to a total of 520l.
There are 18 different versions, including engines, transmissions and drive system, that will be offered for the 3 Series Gran Turismo. Like the sedan and wagon variants the new model gets new engines as well as updates to the existing ones. Among the updates is the 2.0 liter four-cylinder petrol engine which now has a 184hp output in the form of the 320i Gran Turismo and 252hp in the 330i Gran Turismo version. One of the novelties in the engine range is the 3.0-liter six-cylinder with 325hp of the 340i Gran Turismo replacing the 335i Gran Turismo.
In the diesel range one of the novelties is the 325d Gran Turismo equipped with the 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 224hp. This version joins the 150hp 318d, the 190hp 320d and to six-cylinder engine versions 358hp 330d and 311hp 335d.
The 320i, 318d and 320d Gran Turismo, which comes standard with a manual six-speed gearbox, may also be ordered with an automatic eight-speed transmission that reduces fuel consumption. In addition to the 335d xDrive Gran Turismo which is sold exclusively with all-wheel drive, all the petrol versions as well as the 320d and 330d Gran Turismo can be optionally ordered with the xDrive all-wheel drive system.
Regarding consumption the most frugal version of the range is the 318d Gran Turismo with a 4.7l/100km combined consumption (manual transmission) and 4.5l/100km (automatic transmission). CO2 emissions are 117g/km and 112g/km.
The most agile of the range is the 335d xDrive Gran Turismo that can reach 100km/h in 4.9 seconds with a top speed of 250km/h.
