to SEMA. Among the cars include a tuned Beetle with 500hp sponsored by automotive forum VWvortex.

“As we approach the 75th anniversary of the brand’s most iconic product, it makes sense to honor the Beetle’s heritage together with suppliers and customization partners at the auto industry’s premier aftermarket show," said Tim Mahoney, Chief Product and Market Officer at Volkswagen of America.

to 500hp with all-wheel drive. To more than double the power, the team added an APR Stage IV GTX Turbocharger system. Of course that kind of power means more than just a larger turbo, it also has an updated fuel system, significantly intercooler system, ECU upgrade, new cylinder head and intake manifold, an APR RSC exhaust, DXD Racing clutch and Volkswagen Racing Short Shifter.

The engine upgrades include high-strength pistons, upgraded wrist pins, high-strength connecting rods and bearings.

APR fitted the all-wheel drive system from a Golf R with an upgraded differential control system. The car has an H&R Adjustable Coilover Suspension with Volkswagen Racing camber plates and H&R sway bars. It also has upgraded suspension bushings from APR that were originally intended for the Audi TT RS. Volkswagen Racing also provided the upgraded brake system.

The car is not painted but covered in a vinyl wrap, and it wears 19in wheels. There is also a body kit by Newing.

Volkswagen is also displaying four other tuned Beetles at SEMA and a project Golf R.

European Car Magazine has brought the "Beach Battle-Cruiser" that is meant to look like a classic California-tuned Beetle in the modern Beetle body. The car also has an upgraded turbo system and ECU to produce 400hp.

Galpin Auto Sports have also modified a modern Beetle to make it look like a classic. It chopped the top and changed the roof's rake. It has hand-made three-piece wheels that are meant to look like classic Porsche wheels.

FMS Automotive are bringing two Beetles: a 1956 and a 2012 model. The 1956 car is meant to be a fun, modern car. It has four wheel disc brakes, leather interior and upgraded powertrain. The modern car has a two-tone paintjob, H&R suspension and LED headlights.

The Rotiform Beetle also wants to make a modern car look classic. It has an air suspension and a shaved engine bay.

Finally, H&R is bringing a modified Golf RGolf R DSGVolkswagen Golf R DSGGermany, 2010 > present3 photos
that gets the company's own suspension that lowers the ride height 1.3in in the front and 1.6in in the rear. It also has a thicker rear sway bar. The company added 19in BBS wheels and larger brakes as well.
