have quite a wait ahead of them if they want a new generation. The sporty and stylish variant of the GTI will not get a new edition until 2017 at the soonest.

VW sees the coupe and roadster market as especially weak at the moment, and so the Scirocco is not a priority over the crossover on the MQB platform.

There are no plans to change the Scirocco’s styling for the new generation, which means it will get a sharp front end and tilted hatchback to give a fastback look. The engines will continue to be shared with the top variants of the Golf.

However, the Scirocco will get a refresh in 2014 to update its look to appear more like its corporate siblings. The changes will include new headlights, new safety assistance systems and EU6-compliant engines.
