continue to experience worldwide growth, except in Europe where both had falling sales. Both are still experiencing rapid growth in Asia, especially China.
Volkswagen Cars has sold 2.91 million cars in the first half of 2013, up 4.4% over the same period last year. For June, it sold 501,000 cars, up 0.5%.
European sales for Volkswagen Cars are down 7.1% to 843,600 cars. It was down in every European region – down 7.9% in Western Europe, down 8.5% in Germany, down 1.2% in Central and Eastern Europe and down 4.7% in Russia.
However, the Asia-Pacific region is doing quite well for Volkswagen Cars. Sales are up 17.3% to 1.28 million cars for the first half of the year. Of those, 1.17 million went to China, up 19.4%. Sales in India continue to fall with 36,400 cars sold, down 12.6%.
In South America, Volkswagen Cars sold 361,600 cars, down 7.5%. Brazil bought 272,100 Volkswagen Cars vehicles, down 7.3%.
For North America, Volkswagen Cars sold 307,000 cars, up 3.9%, but sales fell 0.9% in the United States to 206,800 cars.

Audi also continues to grow sales with 780,500 cars sold in the first half of 2013, up 6.4% over the same period last year. It is the best sales in the first six months of the year in the company’s history. For June, Audi sold 140,300 cars, a 5.5% increase.

In Europe, Audi sold 383,700 cars in the first half of the year, a 2.5% drop over the first half of 2012. The only major markets that experienced growth were the UK, which was up 11.9%, and Russia, up 9.8%.
Asia is Audi’s second largest regional market with 270,800 cars sold, up 18.2%. Of those, 228,139 were sold in China, up 17.7%. India was also up 21.2% to 4,846 cars.
