the Sport Coupé GTE is longer (4870mm), wider (1865mm) and lower (1407mm). Its wheelbase is also 50mm longer than the four-door saloon, at 2841mm.
The interior of the Sport Coupé GTE gets a new full-length centre console and a series of digital displays and touchscreens. The car offers space for four passengers and has a boot capacity of 480 litres.
Featuring in the new concept is a plug-in hybrid system which Volkswagen wants to adopt in a series of its models in the future. It combines a 299hp turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine and two electric motors, one placed in each axle. Together they generate a combined output of 380hp coupled with a six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. With the petrol engine and front electric motor powering the front wheels and the rear electric motor powering the rear wheels the Sport Coupé GTE gets on-demand four-wheel drive capability.
Computer simulations indicate that the concept can reach 100km/h in 5 seconds and a top speed of 250km/h. It's combined consumption is set in 2.0l/100km, with 46g/km CO2 emissions. The Sport Coupé GTE also has an electric range of 50km, while the overall range is indicated at 1200km.
