Opel will add its new 1.6 CDTI Ecotec diesel, its cleanest ever, to the Zafira Tourer at the Geneva Motor Show. Sales will begin throughout Europe shortly after being introduced.

The four-cylinder 1.6 CDTI Ecotec produces 136hp and 320Nm (236lb-ft) with a top speed of 193km/h (120mph) in the Zafira Tourer. It has average consumption of 4.1l/100km (57mpg) and emits 109g/km of CO2. It is the cleanest diesel engine in Opel's history thanks partially to Opel's BlueInjection selective catalytic reduction technology, which is a urea injection system that transforms nitrogen oxide (NOx) into nitrogen and water.

The new 1.6 CDTI will gradually replace the 1.7-liter diesel and low-power versions of the 2.0-liter diesel in the Opel engine range. The new engine offers 4.6% more power, 6.6% more torque and a 10% reduction in fuel consumption.

The 1.6 CDTI will be the fifth diesel in the Zafira Tourer range, and it also offers four gasoline engines. There are also LPG and CNG versions.

It just makes our Zafira Tourer stand out once again: There simply is no other car that offers such a perfect blend of high performance, impressive fuel economy, excellent refinement and top class quality in a seven-seat layout," said Mike Ableson, GM Europe Vice President of Engineering.
