In 2010 Renault revealed a new concept car: the DeZir. The two-seater coupe concept made its world debut at the 2010 Paris Motor Show and was a demonstration of future design cues for Renault's models.
The Dezir is powered by an electric motor, trying to prove that love for cars and environmental concern can be compatible. With a design team led by Laurens van den Acker, the DeZir was the first concept car in a sequence to give a preview of Renault's Design vision. The front-end design of the concept car was a preview of all future Renault models. The gull-wing doors are another characteristic feature of the DeZir.
The DeZir concept car is powered by an electric motor mounted in a mid-rear position to optimize weight distribution over the front and rear wheels. Its power is handled by a vertically-mounted 24kW/h lithium-ion battery located behind the benchseat, providing a range of 160km.
