The Seat Altea is a compact MPV built by Spanish automaker SEAT, S.A. since 2004. Designed by the Italian Walter de'Silva, the Altea was the first example of SEAT's new corporate look and received its name after Altea, a Spanish town.
The Altea was released a few years after many of its competitors arriving on the scene, but it was expected to sell well. based on Volkswagen Group's A5 (PQ35) platform, the Altea is a family-oriented five-seater, which attempts to portray a more sporty image than most of its rivals.
In 2006 Seat introduced the Altea XL, an extended version of the MPV. A 4WD version with higher suspension was launched in 2007 and called Altea Freetrack.
