range, thought for families.

Despite having a vertical rear and short overhangs the Renegade still achieves a drag coefficient of 0.36.

The boxy shape of the Renegade was designed by the brand to create a visual connection between the original military vehicle that gave birth to the Jeep design from 1941. Despite the more classical concept, the mechanics of the new model are much more modern.

The Renegade shares many components of the steel monocoque bodywork in the 500L and 500X. However it receives more specific structures for the suspension configuration.

The car is equipped with electronically assisted steering and disc brakes. The engines are mounted on the front and front-wheel drive versions or one of two all-wheel drive systems are available.

In Europe, the Renegade is offered with a range of three petrol and two diesel engines. There is a 168hp turbo and non-turbo 138hp versions of Fiat's 1.4-liter 16-valve MultiAir engine, plus a 184hp 2.4-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder called Tigershark.

The diesel range includes a 1.6 liter 108hp engine, a turbocharged 1.6 with 118hp and a 138hp 2.0 liters and 350Nm of torque.

The engine range of the Renegade can be combined with four different transmissions, depending on the engine choice. A manual four-speed gearbox and a five-speed manual, an automatic dual-clutch six-speed and a conventional nine-speed automatic are available.

Another popular theory tells that the word ‘jeep’ came from a cartoon character from Popeye cartoons that “c...  more
