Ecclestone has been under investigation for the alleged bribery

Bernie Ecclestone cannot stay out of the news. A Munich court has ruled that there is enough evidence to try Ecclestone on bribery and incitement to breach of trust charges. He is accused of bribing German banker Gerhard Gribkowsky with €33 million to choose Ecclestone’s preferred company, CVC Capital Partners, to sell a portion of Formula One stock in 2006.

The court has not yet set a date for trial but believes that it will begin in late April. Ecclestone will be required to appear at the trial.

The Gribkowsky has been in jail for accepting the bribe since 2012, but until now Ecclestone had not been indicted. During the Gribkowsky‘s trial, Ecclestone admitted to paying him but claimed that he was being blackmailed, and the money was not meant as a bribe.
