. However, because the team already missed the November deadline to take part in the 2013 season, the team would not begin racing until the 2014 season, if everything goes through successfully.

According to Autosport, negotiations between Scorpion Racing and HRT are at an advanced state. If successful, the deal could be done by the end of the week.

The team will have several hurdles to face if it is able to buy HRT. The 2014 season means new engines and potentially all-new chassis as well. Cosworth has not officially said whether it is develop a turbocharged V6 for 2014 yet. By buying the team, Scorpion Racing would get access to HRT's F112 chassis and Williams' transmissions. Scorpion Racing has indicated that it would move the team's headquarters from Spain to near Silverstone in England.

There is a possibility that the team could receive a waiver from the FIA to compete this season, if it is able to complete the purchase of HRT quickly enough. However, it would be very difficult for them to form a team and hire drivers ahead of the first race in March.
