is revealing an innovative concept at the Geneva Motor Show which challenges the traditional nature luxury Gts. The DBX ConceptDBX ConceptAston Martin DBX ConceptUnited Kingdom, 2015 > 2015 allows Aston Martin to widen its appeal and reach a more diverse global audience.

“The DBX Concept is a challenge to the existing status quo in the high luxury GT segment. It envisages a world, perhaps a world not too far away, when luxury GT travel is not only stylish and luxurious but also more practical, more family-friendly and more environmentally responsible,” explained Aston Martin CEO Dr Andy Palmer.

While developing the DBX Concept, Palmer asked the team to go beyond conventions and to explore what could be the future of the GT segment. Although it is not a production-ready sports GT, Palmer believes this could be a debut for a new approach to GT motoring, which will depend of how well the concept is received in Geneva.

Aston Martin's chief creative officer Marek Reichman was ahead of the team that conceived the DBX concept. Its design represents a major evolution of the company's design language and bets on day-to-day practicality, with generous luggage capacity and room for four adult passengers.

The exterior bright work is made up of machined billet aluminium and gets a unique 'black pearl chromium' paint created to deliver a level of reflectivity that cannot be obtained through normal paint finishes.

Exposed Nubuck leather is one of the features of the interior design, contrasting with the concept’s hard, hi-tech equipment.

Experimental engineering

Aston Martin also opted to go for innovative solutions in terms of engineering. The DBX Concept uses electric motors mounted inboard of the wheels and powered by lithium sulphur cells. Other technological features include electric steering with drive-by-wire arrangement, auto-dimming toughened glass and bespoke head.up displays for both driver and front passenger.

Active LED exterior lights, carbon ceramic brakes with a kinetic energy recovery system (KERS) and rear view cameras in place of conventional mirrors complete the innovative features of the luxury GT concept.
