is going forward wth the concept of the X-treme prototype, unveiled by the brand twelve years ago in 2002, at the Geneva Motor Show. The German automaker revealed it will be introducing a new concept of a sports hatch, the Astra OPC Extreme. Opel plans to have a limited amount of units of the vehicle produced.
Based on the racing version that drives in the Astra OPC Cup, the OPC Extreme concept will become the fastest road Astra of all time. The big difference is that you can drive it on the street. Comparing to the "normal" Astra OPC (280hp), the sports hatch will have less weight thanks to some components made from carbon fiber. An integrated safety structure, racing seats and six-point seatbelts means it comes equipped for the racetrack.
The Astra OPC Extreme will offer racing technology for road users and for those who once in a while like to pay a visit to the circuit. The concept was born in the mythical Nürburgring, where the Opel Performance Center is housed and where the OPC models are tested and configured.
