, the French brand saw the needs to increase its SUV range, not to steal sales from the Qashqai, but from Volkswagen, Kia and Toyota.

The Kadjar and the Qashqai are based on the same CMF platform and have similar dimensions. The Renault SUV is 4450mm long, 1840mm wide and 1600mm high. The boot has an additional 42 liters of space, with a total of 472 liters.

In terms of design the Kadjar follows the same line of the Captur, with flowing, smooth lines and a more exaggerated version of the front end with full-width headlights and grill. A slight wave before the C-pillar and chrome roofrails are elements adopted from the Qashqai.

Renault will only reveal the technical data of the new Kadjar in Geneva, but it seems the model should share the 1.5 and 1.6 diesel engines with the Qashqai. The French brand Design Director Laurens van den Acker believes that the new SUV is a very strong product that combines good engines with low emissions, quality, design and interior flexibility and functionality.

Among the technologies available on Kadjar are included a reversing camera, an autonomous parking system, start-stop functionality, emergency braking assistance, lane departure warning and traffic sign recognition with speed limit alerts. The R-Link 2 infotainment system will also be fitted as standard. Despite being a clearly road car the Kadjar is also prepared for some off-road driving and will be offered with two or four wheel drive.
