The more radical version of the Renault Clio will sit above the existing Renaultsport Clios and will try to attract more enthusiasts to the model. The Clio R.S 220 Trophy will hit the showrooms in the summer.

The 220 Trophy is powered by an upgraded version of the 1.6-litre turbo engine. It gets 10% more power, with a total of 220hp and rev limit of 6800rpm. The R.S version gets a larger turbocharger and revised air intake and exhausts to meet the latest Euro 6 emission standards. CO2 emissions have dropped 6g/km to 138g/km. Torque has also risen to 260Nm.

Renault has updated the criticized dual-clutch paddle-shift transmission of the Clio R.S 200. The new transmission featured on the Clio R.S 220 Trophy has seen its shift times cut by 30%.

The R.S 220 Trophy chassis has been lowered by 20mm at the front and 10mm at the rear. Springs, shock absorbers and bump-stops were updated for high performance use. Equipped with Michelin Pilot Super Sport 205/40 R18 tyres the car has cut three seconds from a typical 1min 40sec lap on Renault’s secret test track.
