The 200 comes standard with nine-speed automatic transmission that will get it 35mpg highway fuel economy. The engine range will be either the 3.6-liter V6 with 295hp and 262lb-ft or a 2.4-liter four-cylinder with 184hp and 173lb-ft. It will also be offered with an all-wheel drive system that disconnects from the rear axle when not in use.

The exterior certainly echoes the look of the Dart but with a completely new front end with narrow grill with Chrysler wings and narrow headlights. Chrysler says that this is its new brand face. It also features optional LED running lights, LED fog lights and standard LED taillights.

The interior of the 200 is a major upgrade over the Dart that it is based on with improved interior trim and materials.  To maximize interior room, the 200 eschews a traditional shifter in favor of a rotary dial to select the gear. Chrysler’s 7in LED instrument cluster is optional with glowing bezels. A second screen in the instrument panels displays data for fuel economy, navigation, compass, outside temperature and time. It can also be upgraded with an Uconnect 8.4in touchscreen infotainment system with navigation

“The all-new Chrysler 200 lays the groundwork for the future of the Chrysler Brand with a timeless, elegant design; clever functionality; a standard nine-speed automatic transmission; a class-leading all-wheel-drive system; more than 60 safety and security features and a host of new technology drivers and passengers will value,” said Al Gardner, President and CEO of the Chrysler Brand,

The upgraded 200S trim gets a darker, more sinister styling with gloss black trim, dual exhausts, and 19in Hyper Black wheels.

The 200 starts at $21,700, plus a $995 destination charge.

The 200 will be built in Michigan at Chrysler’s Sterling Heights Assembly Plant in a new paint shop, robotic body shop and assembly area.
