We had already seen the first official images of the announced Sport Coupé Design concept LF-LC from Lexus. At NAIAS we finally got a closer look to the concept that showcases the future design direction for Lexus.

“The concept we’re showing here in Detroit continues the Lexus design revolution started with the CT and GS,” said Mark Templin, Lexus group vice president and general manager. “The concept hybrid 2+2 liberates the idea of a sport coupe and pushes the boundaries of performance, style and technology.”

Showing what Lexus thinks a future premium sport coupe could be, the LF-LC features a re-interpretation of the signature Lexus spindle grille and rear architecture. The concept mixtures some really defined curves with dynamic angles, which generates a display of lines, shadows and corners.

The spindle grille has been given a 3D form and framed by a deep aluminum surround. In order to show the fusion of distinctive style and engineering functionality air intakes have been placed in the bottom corners.

Another feature of the LF-LC concept is the glass roof which enhances driver visibility while adding to the sleek lines of the car.

With the interior of the LF-LC Lexus has blended advanced technology with soft textures with organic shapes to create a driver-focused synergy of form and function.

The front-engine of the LF-LC features Advanced Lexus Hybrid Drive, which gives the rear-wheel-drive vheicle both driving performance and fuel efficiency.

“This thought-provoking design exercise is a stunning expression of creativity,” said Templin. “Combined with a next-generation hybrid powertrain, this concept promises a rewarding driving experience that is also kinder to the environment.”
