. The model features a sloping roof and heavily structured surfaces. This similarity between these models is due to a Mercedes strategy of creating a more cohesive range of sedans.

Compared to the previous generation, the new E-Class is 43mm longer, with 4923mm. The wheelbase increased 65mm to 2939mm. The new generation is also 2mm narrower and 6mm lower.

When fully launched the range of the new E-Class will include eight engines. However, only two four-cylinder engines will be available at launch, the 2.0-liter turbo petrol 184hp in the E200 and the new 2.0-liter diesel 195hp in the E220d. Also part of the range of the new E-Class are a more powerful version of the turbocharged 2.0-liter with 245hp in the E250 and a V6 biturbo engine with 3.0-liter and 333hp and the E400 4MATIC. At the end of the year the E63AMG will hit the market  powered by the 4.0-liter V8 engine with 588hp.

The diesel range of the new E-Class will also include a less powerful version of the 2.0-liter engine with 150hp, featured on the E200d. Still in 2016, Mercedes will launch the E350d equipped with a new diesel 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine  with 258hp.

Answering to the growing demand for cleaner vehicles, Mercedes will include the E350e, a hybrid plug-in version with 279hp and CO2 emissions of 49g/km.

All versions are equipped as standard with a nine speed automatic transmission 9G-Tronic. The rear-wheel drive model will also have some versions available with the 4MATIC all-wheel drive system.
