will be revealed at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit on January 14.

Maserati did not reveal many concrete details about the new car, but it appears longer than the previous generation with a long, low-slung body. The grill, three grill vents and C-pillar shape stay from the previous generation. The car has been made to look more lithe and low than the previous generation, and it has new pillar-less doors.

The car will keep its high performance credentials with a new V8 that will be built at the FerrariFerrariFerrariItaly, 1947 > present233 models

factory in Maranello. It says that the new engines will have more power and better economy than the previous generation of engines. Maserati is not saying anything else about the engine until the show.

"The best performance ever in the long history of Maserati’s four-door flagship sedan are matched by the unprecedented success in the quest for an eco-friendly automobile," said Maserati Vehicle Development Director Roberto Corradi.

While still not being specific, Maserati says that the weight is down over the previous generation, and they are hinting that it could be available with multiple engines and transmissions depending on market.

“The new Maserati Quattroporte is a high-performance sports luxury sedan that reinterprets the design features of classic Maseratis in a contemporary design language. Its style was born out of the guiding design principles of Maserati: harmony of shapes, dynamism of lines, Italian elegance. More generous in size when compared to the previous model, the new Quattroporte has a design that is at once graceful and sinuous, fashioned to bring out the sporty nature of the car," said head designer Lorenzo Ramaciotti.

The company's goal is to grow to sell 50,000 cars a year by 2015.
