will be unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit on January 13. Production will begin in the third quarter of 2013.

In addition to the new design, the Corvette is getting a redesigned emblem that is more detailed and angular than the previous generations.

Chevrolet says that the C7.R will start racing in 2014.

“The new Crossed Flags design reflects the character of the next Corvette. The flags are much more modern, more technical, and more detailed than before – underscoring the comprehensive redesign of the entire car," said Ed Welburn, GM vice president of global design.

Corvette Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter said that the seventh generation Corvette is focusing on "design, refinement, efficiency and driver engagement."
