Loeb Wins 9th, and Likely Last, WRC Title in France

Loeb's ninth title is a great way to end an amazing rally career.

Sebastien Loeb won his ninth WRC title at the Rally France over the weekend with two rallies to go in the season. It will likely be Loeb's last rally championship because he will only be competing in select rounds of the WRC next season, and he has only confirmed racing in the Rally Monte Carlo next season.

The win in France is Loeb's eighth of the season and 75th in his career

Loeb is beginning to move into touring car and sports car racing. His team Sebastien Loeb Racing has been racing in the Carerra Cup, French GT Championship and European Le Mans Series. He will also race in the World Touring Car Championship in 2014.

Loeb's ninth title means that he has won more than twice the titles of the next most winning drivers. Juha Kankkunen and Tommi Mäkinen both won four titles each.

Loeb is undoubtedly the best rally driver of his generation and certainly bares mentioning in any conversation of the best rally driver of all time.

The Rally France was amazing for a second reason. Petter Solberg went off course through a vinyard, back onto course, through a second piece of vinyard and knocked over an electric pole. No one was injured in the crash.
