may not be the best automaker financially, but it still knows how to inspire fans. It is sending a Peugeot 208 T16 and Sebastien Loeb to the Pikes Peak Hill Climb and has set the goal to take the overall win at this year’s event on June 30.
The 208 T16 will be entered into the Unlimited class, the fastest in the event. The class puts no limits on car layout or power, and Peugeot will reveal the specs of the car later in April.
“Pikes Peak is a one-off outing which has the potential to generate extensive media coverage and which meets the constraints of the current context. It is a legendary race that has inspired all the brand’s teams who have mobilized behind the project which targets outright victory,” said Peugeot General Director Maxime Picat.
The Pikes Peak Hill Climb runs roughly 20km with 156 corners over 1,500 meters of elevation change, and it is the second-oldest motorsports event that is still run in the US after the Indianapolis 500.

T16 to Pikes Peak and set what was at the time the course record. It even recorded the record-setting run and released it as a short film called “Climb Dance” that you can view below. Peugeot won again in 1989.
