Aston Martin upgraded the V12 Vantage with the new V12 Vantage S with a 55hp boost in power from the 6.0-liter V12 and a new seven-speed paddle-shift gearbox. It shares an engine with the Vanquish and CC100. The S model was launched to replace the previous model.
The boost in power to 565hp and 457lb-ft of torque, up from 420lb-ft, increased the top speed to 205mph. The new car is only available with Aston Martin's Sportshift III AMT seven-speed automatic manual transmission. It uses a hydraulically actuated clutch controlled from steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. It saves 25kg (55lb) over the previous six-speed. It is based on the transmissions from the Vantage GT3 and GTE.
