Volkswagen Sharan (Germany, 2003-present)

The Volkswagen Sharan is a large MPV produced since 1995. The Sharan is also rebadged and sold as the SEAT Alhambra since 1996 and is very similar to the Ford Galaxy which is produced at the same plant in Portugal.

The second-generation Sharan was launched in 2010. The new model is 220 mm (8.7 in) longer, 92 mm (3.6 in) wider and 12 mm (0.5 in) lower, than the first generation and the wheelbase is lengthened by 75 mm (3.0 in). The weight has been reduced by 30 kg (66 lb). The 2010 Sharan is available with a numbr of different engines, such as a 1.4 litre TSI (148 bhp) and a 2.0-litre (197 bhp) petrol unit and two 2.0 litre TDI diesel engines. In 2006 the Sharan was introduced with a 2.0 L 85 kW (114 hp) flexible fuel engine, which runs on petrol or autogas.
