Volvo Cars is a Swedish manufacturer of luxury passenger vehicles – independent from the company that’s responsible for Volvo trucks and other vehicles and machinery. A Swedish ball bearing company, SFK (Svenska Kullagerfabriken AB), established the Volvo car company in 1927 in the island of Hisingen, city of Gothenburg, Sweden. Volvo means “I’m rolling” or “I roll” in Latin – which can be interpreted like “I drive” in a more modern logic.

The Swedish carmaker is currently owned by Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, the parent of Chinese motor manufacturer Geely Automobile.
