Ford has officially launched eight new variants of the MY2011 Mondeo in China.
With prices ranging from RMB 169,800 (US$ 25,849) to RMB 252,800 (US$ 38,484), the new Mondeo offers Ford’s patented EcoBoost and PowerShift powertrain technologies delivering higher performance with reduced fuel consumption.
The highlight of the new line-up is the 2.0L EcoBoost GTDi engine, which boasts 176.5kW of power at 6,000rpm and a peak torque of 340 Nm between 1900-3500 rpm while consuming 7.9L/100km. Ford claim this new engine ‘improves driving performance by 25 percent, reduces fuel consumption by 20 percent and lowers 15 percent CO2 emissions’. This is also aided by the PowerShift dual-clutch transmission, which Ford say can reduce fuel consumption by up to nine percent when compared to traditional automatic four-speed transmissions.
The MY2011 Mondeo also features a revised exterior and interior design which Ford say comprises 232 changes. Most noticeable are the enhanced front-end proportions and LED day running lights. Ford say there has also been 32 updates to improve noise and vibration.
Speaking about the Chinese launch, President of Changan Ford Mazda Automotive Corp. Marin Burela said “We are confident that the 2011MY Mondeo will win the hearts of the Chinese consumers. The Chinese market is one of the first markets in Asia Pacific and Africa that will enjoy these new powertrain technologies, demonstrating our strong commitment to continue to invest in and introduce the latest Ford technologies and products in the Chinese Market.”
The MY2011 Mondeo is also available in three new colours - oyster grey, shiny orange and pearl white.
