Italian authorities are investigating 10 Abarth employees in Turin for stealing a million Euro in parts. The red flag was raised when a dealer did not receive the complete Essesse kit that was ordered. The kits come in a wooden crate, and the employees would not include a few parts in each kit. They would then sell these parts online at discount prices. La Repubblica reported that in one case a €1500 engine management unit was sold for €300.
These employees were not criminal geniuses as the photos used to sell the items online were taken in the Abarth factory.
