were the only automotive brands to make it into the 2012/2013 Coolbrands list that identifies the brands that UK consumers find most compelling.
Aston Martin dropped two spots from last year into third place behind Apple and Youtube. Mercedes was ranked 16th between Ben & Jerry's and Vogue magazine. Only two brands remained in the top five from last year: Aston Martin and Apple. Twitter, which was fourth, was not even in the top 20 last year.
There were three automotive brands on the list for 2011/2012: Aston Martin in second, Ferrari in eighth and Maserati in 20th. Motorcycle brand Harley Davidson was in third last year.
Another big surprise for this year is the drop in fashion brands. There were six last year but just two this year, counting Liberty. Tech brands have taken over what used to be held by fashion with new comers like the BBC iPlayer, Twitter, Nikon and Skype.
The list is decided by the votes of 3,000 British consumers who select from a list of 1,200 brands.
