Group reported its financial results for the second quarter at the end of last week, and its results were not great. Net Profits were down 28.3% over the second quarter of 2011, but now BMW has released its unit sales for July 2012. Things seem much brighter with these results. BMW sold 135,537 in July, compared to 129,102 in July 2011. That is an increase of roughly 5%.
BMW has delivered 1,036,088 cars in the first seven months of the year compared to 962,493 last year. That is a 7.6% increase, and it is the first time ever that BMW has sold more than one million cars in seven months.
“The BMW Group continued on its successful course in July and we are confident that we will continue to make solid gains throughout the second half of the year," Ian Robertson, BMW Board Member for Sales and Marketing.
Regionally, BMW sales were especially strong in Asia, which had a 20.8% to 36,128 vehicles. China accounted for 23,092 of those sales. In Europe, sales dropped slightly to 60,855 units compared to 62,350 last year. North American sales were up 3.4% to 33,076 cars and 27,152 of those vehicles were sold in the United States.
BMW brand sold 113,253 cars worldwide last month, up 4.2%, and it has sold 860,327 cars this year, up 7.7%.

sold 22,083 cars worldwide in July, up 9.6%. The brand's strongest market is the US where it sold 5,855 cars, up 24.3%. Mini has sold 173,960 cars worldwide this year, up 7.3%.
BMW Motorcycle sales continue to fall. It has sold 69,329 motorcycles and scooters this year, down 3.2%. In July, it sold 10,140 motorcycles, down 8.3%.
