does not appear to be concerned about the possibility of car sales in Germany following about 3% next year. It is predicting that it will have record total sales for 2013 thanks in part to the new 4 Series Coupe. It will launch in North America and Europe next year.

makes up 28% of BMW's worldwide sales as of 2011. It believes that using the platform to create more niche models will boost those sales even further. A 4 Series convertible is already planned to be launched late next year.
The German Automobile Industry Association (AVD) predicts that German car sales will fall by 100,000 cars next year, or 3.2%. Much of the rest of Europe is predicting sales to fall be an even greater rate.
There are two factors in BMW's favor. First, luxury car sales have been more resilient to falling sales than mass-market cars. North American and Asian car demand is still positive but at a lower rate than it used it.
BMW's strategy has been to take a single platform and create a variety of models based on it. The 4 Series Coupe is heavily based on the 3 Series but with a unique body. The strategy allows BMW to fill more niches but keeps development costs down.
