Cadillac has a long history of providing limousines to American presidents.
Its history started way back in 1916 with Series 53 Cadillac for Woodrow Wilson that drove him through the streets of Boston during the victory parade for World War 1.
In 1928, Cadillac had multiple limousines in service with the president. Calvin Coolidge had a series 341 town car, and Franklin D. Roosevelt used an armored 1928 Cadillac in 1941 directly following the attack on Pearl Harbor. That car was first owned by gangster Al Capone.
In 1938, Cadillac delivered two heavily armored limousines to the US government. These cars were used by Roosevelt, Truman and Eisenhower. The two cars were replaced in 1956 and used by John F. Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson until 1968. Ronald Reagan used a 1983 Cadillac Fleetwood limousine.
Bill Clinton received the first presidential limousine that was designed by Cadillac specifically for a president. Previously, the limos has been prepared by separate companies.
Barack Obama received a new limousine in 2009, and it is the first that is built specifically for the President. Although, it looks like a regular Cadillac. It is built on a custom chassis and portions of its design are still kept secret.
