Citroën Will Launch Low-Cost Sub-Brand Called C-Line

will launch its new low-cost sub-brand that it will call C-Line at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. The first model for the sub-brand will replace the C3C3 Gen.2Citroën C3 Gen.2France, 2009 > 2016111 versions

but have bolder styling. It says that the new cars will be marketed towards people who "seek a balance between cost and functionality," according to the announcement.

The cars will be mechanically simpler than the current Citroën models with fewer drivetrain options and trim packages, rather than individual options. It will not be a completely budget car and offer options like a touchscreen infotainment system and upgraded sound system. The individual options will be dealer-installed to reduce production costs and delivery times.

Citroën is taking the initiative serious enough to completely separate the design departments for DS and C-Line. The bifurcation means that the DS line and C-Line are free to make their styling even more avante garde for premium and entry-level buyers respectively, while the Citroën cars will be aimed at the mainstream.
