Dodge and SRT Motorsports are entering a new Dodge Dart with 600hp into the Global RallyCross Championship with Travis Pastrana as the driver.
The Dodge Dart for the GRC shares a few traits with the street car. It looks the same, and it has four wheels. Other than that they are very different beasts. The rally car is tuned to 600hp and 550lb-ft of torque with all-wheel drive. It accelerates to 60mph in 1.9 seconds
The most powerful production Dart offers 184hp and 184lb-ft of torque with front-wheel drive.
“When I first heard about GRC, I was really interested, and after watching some of the rounds last year and then actually competing at X Games I was hooked! Now to be able to partner with Dodge to field my own program this year is a dream come true. The new Dodge Dart offers the perfect platform for rally cross, and I look forward to putting it on the podium all season long,” said Pastrana
The GRC is a seven-event racing series that runs as a support race for select Indycar and Nascar Sprint Cup races. There is also an event during the X Games. The cars are all-wheel drive rally cars tuned to a maximum of 600hp.
Pastrana started his career as a motocross racer and has won 17 gold medals in the X Games in a variety of disciplines. In 2003, he transitioned to professional rallying. His first international competition was the 2003 Race of Champions where he was knocked out in the first round against WRC driver Marcus Grönholm. He started rallying in the Rally America series in 2005. He was first among the drivers in points from 2006 to 2009.
