DS3 gets a sport touch

Citroën will be presenting at Geneva’s Motor Show a limited edition of the DS3 model. The DS3 Racing was developed by Citroën Racing that added to the modern look of the French make’s model the sportiveness of the five time WRC champion team. The Racing edition will only have 1000 units produced and will be available on the second half of 2010.

The limited edition is powered by a tuned and turbocharged 1.6-litre THP 150 engine that has been enhanced by Citroën Racing to develop 200hp - a power increase of almost 30% over the standard unit - with a torque of 275Nm.

In order to have a better control over the vehicle’s additional power Citroën Racing made some changes in the steering, with the control system being adapted to the new tyres. The DS3 Racing was also fitted with stiffer suspension springs, adapted front and rear shock absorbers and finally it saw its front and rear track widen by 30mm. Compared to the standard DS3, the limited edition has been lowered 15mm.

Another feature of the Racing edition is the braking system that has been up-rated to ensure control over the car’s additional horsepower with the front wheels being fitted with 4-piston racing callipers and special disc-brakes.

The Geneva Motor Show version will have dark grey bodywork that is enhanced by details in orange, such as the roof, side mirrors and brake calipers. The orange touches continue in the interior of the DS3 Racing with glossy strip of the dash, gear stick and gear stick surround finished in the same colour.
