Ferrari 250 GTO Worth Over $30 Million Crashed in France

Cox's car is the blue and yellow one on the far right

Christopher Cox, an American businessman and the owner of a Ferrari 250 GTO250 GTOFerrari 250 GTOItaly, 1962 > 19646 photos
, crashed the multi-million dollar sports car during a historic race at the Reims-Gueux.

The details of the crash are not known. Cox is okay, but his wife who was in the car with him broke her leg in the accident.

Cox has owned the car since at least 2005 when he brought it to a meeting of 250 GTOs at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.

Recently, a 250 GTO built for Sterling Moss sold for a record $35 million.

With any car this rare and important, there will be videos of it online. Below are two videos of Cox's GTO. Both videos are from the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. The first is from 2007 and the from 2011.

Accidents of this type can almost, just barely, be considered a good thing. At least Cox was driving the car on the track when he crashed. Too many rare cars sit in collections as sculptures as opposed to being driven like they were meant to be. Also, if Cox had the millions it took to buy the car, then he also has the money to pay a craftsman to bang out a new body from aluminum.
